Sainte-Luce

Sainte-Luce

The small town of Sainte-Luce, located along the shore of the St. Lawrence River, is famous for its 2.5 kilometre long beach where a sand castle contest is held every summer. Visit the church of the village, which is on the historic register and has impressive stained-glass windows. Along the beach, the promenade de l’Anse-aux-Coques allows you to relax for a moment and offers one of the most breathtaking views on the river. If you like scuba diving and original activities, you will find, 7 kilometres off Sainte-Luce in the depth of the river, an old destroyer of the Canadian army, the NCSM NIPIGON, which was sank in the summer of 2003 and is now a major attraction for all-levels scuba divers. The most famous scuba diving site is the one of the Empress of Ireland. The wreck is located 45 metres deep in the sea, off the coasts of Sainte-Luce. However, you must be a certified diver to have access to this site.
