This small village, which is part of the Most beautiful villages of Quebec Association, was once the strategic point for important portages between the St. Lawrence River, the Maritime Provinces and Acadia. Amerindians, missionaries and fur trappers traveled down the rivers of the region.
Throughout the years, this village transformed itself into a special vacation destination. On the opposite shore of the St. Lawrence River, on the north shore, the Saguenay Fjord opens up, just like the St. Lawrence estuary to the east. The whales that live in the River wander about near the village, for the joy of visitors. Come relax at the health centre where a salt-water pool awaits you. At the end of the day, do not miss the spectacular sunsets, classified as the most beautiful in the world.
