Founded in 1973, the François-Pilote museum occupies the four floors of the convent of the Sainte-Famille Sisters who were at the time responsible for the laundry and cafeteria service for the boarders of the old boarding school of Collège de Sainte-Anne in La Pocatière.
The first floor of the museum illustrates the varied housework and different occupations of our ancestors, the history of sugaring and of our means of transportation, ploughing instruments and coastal navigation. The third floor recounts the customs of the middle-class and farmers by the reconstruction of their habitat, their school, the the general store counter and the offices of the professionals. Discover the teaching tools of Canada's first agricultural school and first school of sciences in College. The museum has been named
in honour of the abbot François Pilote, the founder of the school in 1859.
Come also marvel at the magnificent bird collections (more than 600 specimens), the stuffed animals (70 mammals), the fishes and shells, an international numismatic collection as well as the current temporary exhibits.
